Why Your Board Spins Out and How to Fix It

Fin size, stance and weed: the three usual suspects. We swapped fins twice during the session. The shorter fin gave up some upwind angle but stayed locked in when the chop picked up.

The setup that worked

Harness line length matters more than most riders think. Moving them two centimetres forward took the strain off tired forearms.

• Match fin size to the chop, not just the sail
• Check the mast foot pin before launching
• Move harness lines in small steps
• Rinse the rig and let the sail dry loose

Tune the rig on the beach, not on the water. You will get more runs in.
